This week’s celebrity contestants were Brian Conley, Scarlett Moffatt, Anneka Rice and Phil Wang.

However, viewers were seriously distracted by comedian Brain Conley’s avatar.

Fans were quick to point out that he resembled the fictional character and main antagonist of the 1988 action movie Die Hard Hans Gruber, played by Alan Rickman.

Taking to Twitter, one said: “@RealBrianConley doubling the role of Hans Gruber in this week’s #houseofgames.”

A third wrote: “Brian’s avatar has a strong Alan Rickman vibe as the Sheriff of Nottingham.”

A fourth thought: “Brian’s avatar looks like Steve Arnott from Line of Duty!”

Gruber is a cunning thief and criminal mastermind from West Germany who holds the Nakatomi Plaza hostage to steal $640 million in marketable bearer bonds.

At the end of the episode it was Scarlett and Anneka who were leading with seven points.

A daily winner is declared after a quick round at the end of each show, and scores are tallied throughout the week, resulting in an overall champion receiving the festive House of Games Trophy on Friday.

Will the winning stars opt for the coveted House of Games suitcase, or will they be tempted by the House of Games fondue set?

Scarlett appears to be on a winning streak this Christmas after winning the Celebrity Lego Masters, alongside her dad and sister.

Meanwhile Brian Conley, 61, can currently be seen as Buttons in Cinderella at the New Victoria Theater in Woking.

Soap fans will know Brian from EastEnders as Tom ‘Rocky’ Cotton, who joined the show as Charlie Cotton’s son in 2021.

Fellow comedian Phil recently announced a huge national tour, following the success of his stand-up special and his Netflix book.

Richard Osman’s House of Games airs weekdays at 6pm on BBC Two.
