news culture Hunter x Hunter: soon the end?

Back for several weeks, the Hunter x Hunter manga is once again on hiatus. Yoshiro Togashi’s health forced him once again to stop his work as the end of the work loomed on the horizon. Will the Shueisha and the author manage to complete this story, which began almost 25 years ago?

Another break, but…

While fans lost faith, Hunter x Hunter, one of the most famous shōnen ever written, returned this year after a four-year hiatus. Yoshihiro Togashi has taken over the pencil to give us a new chapter every week since October 24th. Unfortunately, the joy will have been short-lived: the manga once again enters a break when the health of the author fails him.

Since its first release in 1998, Hunter x Hunter has suffered an unfortunate fate, fraught with hard stops that have made the release of chapters particularly fluctuating over the years. Yoshihiro Togashi has suffered for several years from back pain, which prevents him from working in the best conditions. In fact, the fans had to resolve to follow the manga over a chaotic publication rate.

Nevertheless, despite this new break, Yoshihiro Togashi is ready to do anything to continue his flagship work. This time, the author is looking for solutions to meet the expectations of his fans. The Shueisha is obviously ready to fully support him.

The author and the Shueisha are looking for solutions!

It’s official, Hunter x Hunter will stop again after the release of Chapter 400 in the next Weekly Shonen Jump for an indefinite period. But this break could prove to be much shorter than in the past. An official statement from the Shueisha has just informed fans. According to the publishing house, Hunter x Hunter should continue, in a format other than the weekly publication.

Thank you for reading Hunter x Hunter. Regarding the publication of the manga for chapters 401 and following, we spoke with Yoshihiro Togashi about his health, and in conclusion, we decided to release Hunter x Hunter in a different format than the weekly serialization.

Togashi-Sensei will continue to write the next chapters while the editorial department will continue to support him until the end of the manga. The specifics of the new publication format will be communicated in future editions of Weekly Shonen Jump. Thank you for your continued support of Hunter x Hunter.

The Hunter x Hunter adventure will therefore continue, but we must expect a new rhythm of publication, even a new medium. La Shueisha and Yoshihiro Togashi could, for example, agree on a digital pre-publication on the publishing house’s application, Manga Plus. Finally, you should know that the author has already written a large number of future chapters, which must now be drawn. A task that Yoshihiro Togashi now delegates to his assistants. So be patient, before finding Kurapika and the Succession arc.
