It is an episode of great violence that took place in the train. A traveler who took the Montpellier tram on Wednesday April 19 was targeted by another passenger for a disagreement over a seat. The violence of the attack resulted in two days of hospitalization and nine days of total interruption of work for the victim.
“I felt a big blow”
Julie, 30, was coming home from work shortly after 7 p.m. on Wednesday when her future abuser boarded the train. In her twenties, the newcomer criticizes her for not leaving enough room for a couple of passengers who have just sat down. Shortly after her reproaches, the young woman attacks Julie.
“I felt a big hit, I think maybe knee or elbow in the head. The girl started to insult me, to grab me directly by the hair so I grabbed hold of her hair to defend”, testifies the victim.
The attack is violent. Some people intervene and the thirty-year-old ends up getting out of the train and calling the police. Hurt, she asks the driver to stop the tram but passengers refuse.
“People were more concerned about their well-being, getting home after work, eating, not missing their connection, rather than helping someone in danger,” Julie laments.
“I constantly live the scene”
Supported by the emergency services, the victim is taken to the hospital, where he will remain for 48 hours. Victim of a cranial trauma, a tearing of the hair and several contusions on the level of the cervical, its incapacity for work is evaluated at nine days. Since this attack, the 30-year-old says she lives in anguish.
“Me, I live the scene constantly. I admit that I can’t sleep properly at night because my subconscious is there and makes me relive this scene. I travel by public transport to go to work but there I I’m anxious, I can’t take them…”, she confides.
Julie has just filed a complaint and an investigation is underway. His attacker is still at large.
