The French actress will be the mistress of ceremonies for the next Cannes Film Festival, which takes place from May 16 to 27.

A regular at Cannes and a key figure in French auteur cinema, the actress won the Un Certain regard interpretation prize for her role in “Chambre 212” by Christophe Honoré in 2019, eleven years after having been part of the jury of the feature films.

“The first time I went to the Cannes Film Festival was for my first film, My favorite season by André Téchiné. We were in official competition, I was 20 years old, and I was very impressed”, evokes the actress in this same press release from Brut and France TV.
“I have immense stage fright but I’m delighted,” adds Chiara Mastroianni. “I see it as an absolute chance to attend the most beautiful selection of cinema in the world. I do it with great sincerity because my desire to become an actress was born from my love of films, from my pleasure as a spectator.”
Thierry Frémaux, general delegate of the festival unveiled Thursday the list of 19 films which will be in competition this year. A selection marked this year by the presence of female directors, a little more numerous than usual.
Five weeks before the start of the race for the Palme d’Or, the festival should extend its list of films in competition, as well as reveal the composition of the jury of which we only know for the moment the president, the Swedish director Ruben Östlund , Palme d’or last year with his film “Without filter”.
