The man runs the risk of losing mobility in his lower limbs after the patrol hit him from behind when he was riding his motorcycle and later crossed over a large part of his body. Due to this event, the victim’s sister filed a complaint with the Eldorado Federal Court.
While the complaint continues its course while waiting for the authorities to request the evidence, Ronaldo is torn between the impotence of not being able to move on his own and the noise of the engine of the Gendarmerie truck that torments him day and night. On Wednesday of this week, after several cancellations, he finally underwent one of the most complex surgeries.
Bedridden in Samic, depending on probes and family members to help him for everything, Ronaldo cannot understand. He is terrified without finding explanations for the reason that led the sentinels to run over him and, as if that were not enough, mistreat him when he could barely bear the pain from the serious injuries he suffered.
In dialogue with El Territorio, after the surgery he was somewhat relieved, although impotence and psychological damage are issues that he will need a lot of help to overcome: “I feel terrible, impotence lying here on a bed, depending on family members until to drink water. I feel a lot of pain in my leg, in my waist, they put me in braces that prevent me from moving and there are times when I hardly sleep at night, it is a very sad situation, ”he said.
And Rolando continued: “The surgery went well, I don’t know how much longer I’ll be hospitalized and I don’t know if I’ll be able to walk again. It is what I ask God for the most because I have my mother who is old, I live with her, she needs me. I feel useless not being able to help her, that worries me a lot. The doctors are doing everything they can.”
About what happened that noon, I assure to remember every detail, but talking about it and reliving the ill-treatment received is not easy at all. “I remember everything as if it were today, several times I fainted, I woke up and I remember everything, what happened is very unfortunate, it does me no good to talk about it, it makes me very sad, impotent. I think they should not have done what they did to me, they would have arrested me, even beaten me, but not nearly killed me,” Dos Santos recalled with enormous impotence.
In another of the sections of the brief conversation he had with this medium, he revealed the terrible psychological damage “Sometimes when I fall asleep I wake up very scared, as if the wheels of the mobile were passing over me again. I can’t get a good night’s rest, that noise remained as a trauma recorded in my mind.”
As this media opportunely reported, Ronaldo said that that day he had been working on a farm near his home, at kilometer 90 in the Unida neighborhood of Pozo Azul. He was returning to his house on a Honda Bross motorcycle using a kind of shortcut or alternative road that crosses a property when he met a man who was riding a horse. This person started a conversation with him, when a cell phone from the National Gendarmerie appeared in front of him.
At that moment, the man, who was apparently carrying a firearm, got off the animal and fled on foot, at which point the officers responded with shots. Ronaldo, who was also carrying a firearm – something that, although it is illegal, is almost normal in some places in the rural area – got scared and made a U-turn, starting a chase.
According to what he declared and his relatives also said, since the road is very narrow, there was no possibility that he would stop on one of the sides, so, as best he could, he signaled to the gendarmes to slow down so that he could stop and thus avoid being hit. However, there were shots and a collision from behind.
The impact bent the luggage rack of the motorcycle and left it on the ground, where the mobile passed over it.
Between some ill-treatment and fainting, he was referred on the same mobile that ran him over to the level I hospital in San Pedro, from where he was referred to Samic in Eldorado. There he was treated and diagnosed with a fractured pelvis with pubic diastasis, a serious injury to the testicles and abdominal area, multiple wounds and abrasions on the waist, as well as a perforated lung.
