The Secretariat of Infrastructure, Communications and Transportation (SICT) received five proposals to build phase one of the station Santa Martha of the trolleybus what will go to Chalco and it is one of the strategic projects for the federal government (with a total cost of 6,500 million pesos).

Among the five offers, the one with the highest amount was delivered by ICA: 1,095.3 million pesos and the lesser La Roca Construction: 57.5 million pesos. Another interested party is the consortium of gami and Ural Constructionswho propose to do the work for 699.2 million pesos.

The ruling will be announced on May 11, although it may be postponed due to the amount of technical information that must be analyzed. The works are expected to be carried out in 214 calendar days.

The terminal to be built involves a building on an elevated viaduct with a length of approximately 180 meters and “it will be mainly a relevant transfer center for other modes of transport such as Meter, Cablebus, collective transport, etc. This station will be equipped with waiting areas for up to 20 units”, it was reported.

In accordance with the bidding conditions (in charge of the General Directorate of Rail and Multimodal Transport), the winning company will have two advances, the first of 15% at the beginning of the works and an equal part when it achieves a physical progress of the works of 15 percent.

A strategic project

The corridor Chalco-Santa Martha It will have a length of 18.7 kilometers and will serve as a connection between the limits of the Mexico City and the Mexico state.

The objectives of this work are: to have a transport alternative with greater capacity and efficiency in relation to the cost-time of the trips that allows complementing the existing systems, improving mobility in the border area to the east of Mexico City, and Generate a trunk transportation system that allows integration and correlation with other systems from the various stations for a more orderly distribution of transportation at the municipal or mayoral level.

As part of this project, last December, the Government of Mexico City, through the Electric Transport Service (STE), awarded a new contract to the firm of Chinese origin Yutong Mexico (now 1,411.8 million pesos), for the sale of 102 articulated trolleybuses that will be used on the route. Deliveries will be in August and September 2023.
