‘I’m Here Because I’m Black’ Host Makes Fun of Golden Globes

After the 35-year-old let loose a few more jabs at the organizers in his opening monologue, he ended his speech forgivingly: “Regardless of the history of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, this is a night to celebrate. And I think this industry deserves evenings like this. And I’m glad you’re all here. And I hope you have a great time tonight!”

The Golden Globes honor the best cinema productions and television shows of the year. The award ceremony is considered trend-setting for the Oscars.

The winners

The Irish actor convinced with his role in the tragic comedy “The Banshees of Inisherin” about a broken male friendship by director Martin McDonagh. With Farrell, the Mexican Diego Calva (“Babylon”) and the Brit Daniel Craig (“Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery”) were nominated, among others.

► Angela Basset (64) has the price as the best supporting actress won. The US actress convinced with her role in the Marvel hit “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever”. Among her nominees were Jamie Lee Curtis (“Everything Everywhere All at Once”) and Carey Mulligan (“She Said”).

▶︎ US actor Ke Huy Quan (51) won the Golden Globe for his role in the sci-fi comedy Everything Everywhere All at Once best supporting actor won. He prevailed against Brendan Gleeson (“The Banshees of Inisherin”) and Brad Pitt (“Babylon”), among others.
