President Joe Biden’s campaign released this Monday a new television and digital advertisement in which the president defends his strength to continue governing the United States, at a time when he is being strongly questioned for his performance in the debate last week.

Titled “I know,” the video features footage of Biden at a rally in North Carolina the day after the debate in which the president cries, “When you get knocked down, you get up.”

All of this is interspersed with images of Donald Trump that denounce “the lies” that the former president (2017-2021) uttered in the debate on June 27, the campaign said in a statement.

“In the ad, President Biden takes aim at Trump’s lies on the debate stage, from his lies about the great economy he created and its failure during the pandemic and his biggest lie of trying to avoid responsibility for the insurrection he encouraged. on January 6,” he noted.

The 60-second spot will air on television and digital platforms in the swing states and will focus on key voting demographics such as young people, and will air on networks such as ESPN, TNT, Bravo, FX, Freeform and Comedy Central.

The ad will also air on sports programming and other high-rating moments, such as the season premiere of the popular reality show ‘The Bachelorette,’ the campaign explained, while a 30-second version will be created for digital platforms.

The commercial comes after the Democratic Party has had an intense weekend, with more than 1,500 campaign events in key states, and $33 million in donations have been raised since Thursday.

“Americans deserve a president who will not back down from a fight and that is Joe Biden. That is the spirit on which this country was built and it is what President Biden brings every day to his work as Commander in Chief,” he noted. the campaign’s communications director, Michael Tyler.

Over the weekend, there were continued voices criticizing the president’s performance in the debate, who appeared disoriented at times, a situation that fueled criticism due to his advanced age, 81 years.

In an interview on MSNBC on Sunday, Democratic lawmaker Jamie Raskin acknowledged that the Democratic Party is having “very honest, serious and rigorous conversations” after Biden’s weak performance.

The lawmaker said there was “obviously a big problem,” but said there is also a “tremendous reserve of affection and love” for the president within the party, which makes this “a difficult situation.”

Raskin said that regardless of what President Biden decides, the Democratic Party is “going to be unified,” and he will be “at the very center” of the deliberations, including at the Democratic Convention in Chicago in August.

“Whether Biden is the nominee or someone else is, he will be the keynote speaker at our convention. He will be the figure around whom we rally to advance and defeat the forces of authoritarianism and reaction in the country,” Raskin said .

Biden has not yet been officially nominated as the party’s candidate for the November elections, so in theory there would still be time to voluntarily withdraw and let the party choose another candidate, although it would be a very politically difficult process. EFE
