13-year-old girl shot while sleeping at her Germantown home

A 13-year-old girl was shot in the foot in Germantown, Maryland, Sunday night after a shooting was reported outside her home, police said.

The shooting happened around 11:22 p.m. at Sesame Seed Court, according to Montgomery County police.

In an exclusive interview with Telemundo 44, the victim’s father recounted the moment of the events.

“We are all asleep in the house when we hear about three or maybe four shots. That woke us up and the minute I woke up, my daughter, she came limping to bed and told us that something had happened to her, ”said the man who preferred to remain anonymous.

Authorities said the girl was probably not the intended target.

“I immediately went back to check his foot and he had a hole in his right foot, but when I took his foot to get a good look at the sole of his foot, he didn’t have an exit hole or anything. So, when I touched it, I felt like a lump, so I assumed it was a bullet that had fallen on him, ”he added.

The cameras of Telemundo 44 captured the traces of shots that were left in the house: one in front, two on the side and one more on the fence.

“We are not well because of fear, the impression… it is something very difficult as a father to see a son get shot,” he said.

The minor’s father added that the girl is recovering, but that she is dealing with the psychological consequences that the incident caused.

Police have not arrested any suspects in the shooting, but said they do not believe there was a threat to the public.
