New Details About Store Clerk Accused Of Stealing $3M Winning Lottery Ticket

Prosecutors released new details Tuesday in the case of a Massachusetts store clerk and her co-worker who allegedly conspired to steal a winning $3 million lottery ticket from a customer.

The Plymouth District Attorney’s Office announced last month that Carly Nunes, 23, of Lakeville, and her co-worker, Joseph Reddem, 32, of Randolph, had been charged in connection with the scheme.

Nunes was charged and originally scheduled to arraign on June 12, but she missed her hearing and a warrant was issued for her arrest. Brockton police and state police located her in Brockton early Tuesday morning and she was taken into custody.

She is charged with theft of property, attempted theft, filing a false report and intimidation of witnesses. She pleaded not guilty Wednesday and was ordered held on $10,000 cash bail. She is scheduled to return to court on July 26.

Reddem pleaded not guilty Tuesday to one count of attempted extortion and was released on bail on personal recognizance. He is also scheduled to return to court on July 26.

The charges followed a four-month investigation by Lakeville police, state police and the state lottery commission.
