Hundreds of parents and children came to the Christmas dinner of the Christian children and youth welfare organization “Die Arche” in Berlin’s “Hofbräuhaus” on Saturday. In particular, the association had invited financially disadvantaged families to eat poultry, red cabbage and dumplings together on Christmas Eve.

Citizens donated large numbers of presents, which Santa Claus distributed to the children. According to the Arche, around 750 people had registered for the festival, and many refugees from Ukraine also came to eat together.

A few weeks ago, Arche founder Bernd Siggelkow reported that the increased food prices had dramatically worsened the situation of disadvantaged families.

“Especially at Christmas, the idea of peace, security and a festive atmosphere is often neglected,” says Managing Director Björn Schwarz. (dpa)
