At least fifteen people have been injured by a leopard in India’s northeast state of Assam, reports The Times of India. The animal has been prowling since Monday morning in the district of Jorhat and has committed several attacks against residents or rangers.

Several videos shared on social networks testify to the leopard’s wanderings. According to local forest authorities, he got lost while looking for food.

In a video taken by rangers, the feline leaps out of a building, jumps over a gate and attacks a passing van on the road next door. In another, he is seen taking shelter near homes in the village, where residents have been told to stay inside their homes.

“The animal became very aggressive. We set traps to capture it,” said Ranjit Konwar, the Jorhat district forest officer.

“Most of the injured were bitten and required hospitalization, but they now appear to be out of danger,” said a spokeswoman for the local hospital. According to Times of Indiaat least two children were also injured by the animal.
