Run, walk, enjoy the sun and the sand. Treat yourself to a vacation, yes, but not too expensive. This year, holidays will cost more. A young couple from Calais (Pas-de-Calais) in Hyères (Var) estimates their budget between 1,500 and 2,000 euros for two weeks of vacation “without doing too many restaurants”.
Change your habits
So the French are adapting. “We try not to deprive ourselves too much, but we consume differently. We no longer have picnics, little things like that, because it’s true that things go quickly”, says a woman. A restaurateur, who has increased her prices, sees the habits of customers change. “People, instead of taking two starters to share, they will take a little thing to share”observes Marie Maestracci, representative of restaurateurs at the Union des Métiers de l’Industrie Hôtelière du Var.
