Ramón Sosa, Cristian Tarragona and Franco Soldano, the latest additions
In the first days of February 2022, Franco Soldano signed a three-year contract with Gimnasia. He was the fifth and last reinforcement of that market and nobody imagined that two recesses would come without the chance to incorporate due to inhibitions. Because Gymnastics, last year, paid practically no one.
In fact, he did not comply with the agreement for Ramón Sosa’s pass and that is why he is inhibited by Olimpia. The debt is even greater with Tembetary and is the origin of the current conflict (see separate). For Oscar Piris there is a debt of 300 thousand dollars as intermediation with the company Gestión y Marketing Deportivo; Tigre is owed the loan from Agustín Cardozo and Franco Soldano has an inhibition from Olimpiakos for almost half a million dollars, in addition to debts with Unión de Santa Fe, the company that mediated in the arrival of the player (Sport Management, U$ S 159 thousand) and the representative of the player. Only with Cristian Tarragona the club did not go beyond the usual debts that it can have with any player.
The strange thing about the situation is that in the middle of the year Gimnasia made negotiations in the market: Marcelo Weigandt was a dream, it was managed by Leonel Di Plácido (Lanús), they consulted for the Paraguayan defender Roberto Fernández (from Guarani, today in Dinamo Moscow ) and flirted with Pablo De Blasis for more than a month until his thumb fell off, there already arguing economic issues and the existence of the inhibition of Al Ettifaq by Brahian Alemán. Olimpia’s claim would arrive in August, but by then Gorosito had agreed not to have reinforcements in exchange for keeping the squad (and the coaching staff) up to date, which did not happen either.
The introduction is the prequel to the film that Gymnastics lives today. The new leadership wanted to banish the idea of saving fat wallets and decided to enter the club with an austerity plan, slowing down spending on the professional squad and coaching staff to try to empower their own youth players and start up the “factory of jugadores” that has not sold its own product since Maximiliano Meza’s move to Independiente in September 2016. 6 years and 4 months have passed. In soccer, an eternity, hidden in the treasury for good business with Jan Hurtado and José Paradela.
Johan Carbonero seemed to be a good deal. 70% of the pass cost US$ 2,700,000 and Lobo did not go beyond the first payment of 700 thousand dollars. Thus, faced with the risk of losing him (the contract implied percentage losses for non-compliance until the total return of the token), he ended up accepting half a million dollars to release the Colombian. And the business was done by Once Caldas, which sold it for US$ 3,800,000. For Gimnasia, a “handrail” that allowed her to win a green stick ended up paying 200,000 for a six-month loan. Ramón Sosa’s seems to be a step with the same destiny.
In one year, Gimnasia lost Johan Carbonero, Rodrigo Rey, Agustín Cardozo and Brahian Alemán, as well as players with “replaceable” performances such as Oscar Piris, Guillermo Fratta, Nery Leyes, Emanuel Cecchini, Manuel Insaurralde and Alexis Domínguez. A dozen players, some figures, others with dull steps. All first division and experienced players, now replaced by kids from the club. And neither is Pipo Gorosito.
The time of the youth and the support they need
Today Gymnastics bets on the youth of the club. For those who appeared last year (Benjamín Domínguez, Tomás Muro) to explode, for Ignacio Miramón to consolidate and to demonstrate that those who will have a possibility that is very difficult to access under normal conditions can be headlines. Also, for some guys it will be the last chance: if they don’t respond, it will be their final departure from the club. The leadership seeks certainties for the future, surely to incorporate more experienced footballers in the next market where the diagnosis indicates.
