The company that owns Mayakoba, RLH Properties, in its commitment to innovation, environmental education and community development, together with the civil association Centinelas del Agua, convened the 1st Forum on Wastewater Treatment Technologies and opened the Technology Center Appropriate in Water and Environmental Education in the community of Solferino, Quintana Roo, within the framework of the month of World Water Day.

The forum took place prior to the entry into force of the update of NOM-001-SEMARNAT-2021 in Quintana Roo, in which a discussion, technical work groups and a technology fair were held, which brought together the best companies specialized in providing wastewater treatment technologies.

The CEO of RLH Properties, Borja Escalada, shared that the company acts responsibly with the environment, the environment and the community in each of its projects, evaluating the impact it will generate, prioritizing respect for the environment and the contribution to the economic development of society as the axis of its sustainability strategy.

The director of Sancus Foundation, Ámbar Plasencia, explained that “La Casita del Agua” was financed mainly with resources obtained through La Suma de Todos, a Sancus Foundation program in which guests of the four hotels in Mayakoba are invited to make donations at the end of your stay, which are matched 100% by RLH Properties and an additional 20% by Sancus Capital Partners.

It should be noted that the “La Casita del Agua” eco-technologies demonstration center also promotes comprehensive water management through workshops on rainwater harvesting systems, dry toilets, wetlands, orchards, pollinating gardens, among others; and the Estancia works as an overnight or operational Center for researchers, actors from the environmental sector and community development.
