For the second time, the religious communities in Vorarlberg gathered on New Year’s Eve for an interreligious prayer for peace.

The communities were guests this year in the House of Meetings of the Evangelical Parish of auhB in Dornbirn. The host, Pastor Michael Meyer, welcomed the numerous representatives of the religious and denominational communities in the arcades of the community center and led them through praying together for peace in 2023.

Representatives of the Catholic, Orthodox, Protestant, Old Catholic and New Apostolic Churches, the Islamic faith community, the Buddhist community, the free Alevis and the Bahá’ís were present. The evening was musically accompanied by Michael Neunteufel (piano) and Francisco Obieta (double bass) with works by Jules Massenet, Ernst Bloch, Giovanni Bottesini and Astor Piazolla.

The celebration ended with a greeting and wish for peace from all those present, which then led to a lively exchange among themselves. This is a nice sign that the Vorarlberg faith communities also live the peace they had prayed for among themselves.
