There’s another new story about the iPhone 14’s emergency SMS feature.
The smartphone can send emergency messages via satellite even without cell phone reception. Operations by rescue workers that were made possible by this are regularly reported.
New case in New Zealand
The latest case occurred in Arthur’s Pass National Park in New Zealand. Two hikers made an iPhone emergency call there after becoming stranded on a river bank.
Brought to safety by helicopter
Due to heavy rain, water in the river rose to dangerous levels in the following hours. The rescue workers then arrived and brought the hikers to safety – and thus presumably saved their lives.
