The union at the Apple Store in Glasgow was able to agree on a wage increase with the company.
The Glasgow store was the first in the UK to form a union of employees. This has finally paid off for the employees.
Achieved fairer pay for employees
In a tweet, the union announced that it had successfully campaigned for a better wage model. Apple’s proposed model was previously rejected.
The result is impressive: Most employees will receive 7 percent more salary and compensation payments in the future. The success in Glasgow could also have an impact on negotiations in other countries such as the USA or Australia in the future. Retail store employees have also formed unions there.
Union is happy about success
Specifically, the negotiators from Scotland write about their happy achievement:
Apple Glasgow has today reached an agreement on salaries following negotiations. Members voted to reject Apple’s pay model and instead secured minimum raises and compensation for all employees, as well as better pay for the majority of employees, most of whom received 7%.

Our successful pay negotiations are just one example of the ways in which a union can benefit Apple employees. We have been able to successfully change Apple’s pay model to make it more equitable and less dependent on arbitrary metrics.
