The iPhone 15 Pro gets a practical new feature thanks to USB-C.
Apple’s ProRes format allows you to record high quality videos. However, this requires a relatively large amount of memory and quickly fills up the internal capacity of even larger iPhones.
Write directly to external storage
However, the iPhone 15 has mastered a new trick. Thanks to USB-C and the integrated USB 3 data transfer, it is possible to save the videos directly to an external USB storage device.
Fast storage media required
Of course, for this to make sense, the memory has to be fast enough. Exact requirements are not yet known. In any case, the recordings have a resolution of up to 2.8K at 60 frames per second.
