You are currently viewing iPhone 15 Pro Max: Titanium casing very susceptible to scratches

Apple has changed the construction material of the iPhone 15 – but old problems remain.

Initial testers report that the smartphone’s titanium frames also scratch easily. This previously applied to the aluminum housings. However, there is now an important addition.

Titanium coating not too thick

While anodized aluminum with a deeper color was previously used, the new titanium (5th degree) coating is slightly thinner. You can therefore see the original material color more quickly under the selected look.

That shows about one Tweet by Majin Bu, from which the photo above comes. If you scratch the frame too hard, the blue will fade in favor of the natural silver tone. This is likely to annoy users.

Case apparently makes sense for protection

On the other hand, it was of course already clear beforehand that the best way to protect your titanium iPhone from scratches was with a case. This now seems to be even more clearly indicated.
