The fight against illegal streaming is intensifying. Several French ISPs will have to block dozens of illegal services. But the bulk of the fight remains against the illegal broadcasts of sports competitions, in particular football and boxing.

Faced with this trend, the AAPA, for Audiovisual Anti-Piracy Alliance, calls on intermediaries to lend a hand in removing pirate content from IPTV. Except that by extension, thousands of legal services find themselves blocked.

Legal IPTV blocked, what’s going on?

Rights owners have been waging a war against pirate content for years. According to them, intermediaries do not help enough in this fight. As TorrentFreak explains to us, rights holders accuse intermediaries of ” to use the fuzzy contours of the law to do nothing “.

Their request ? That illegal distribution of content be removed immediately after it is reported. According to them, intermediaries must act more quickly and stop playing ambiguity. Cloudflare, content delivery network company, objected to this request.

According to the American company which describes itself as a “ guardian of the internet » and claims 20% of the Internet that goes through its platform, this request leads to deviations. Mainly because it blocks perfectly legal IPTV services. And this by the thousands.

Why are these legal services being blocked?

According to Cloudflare, this IPTV attack leads to ricochet damage and other consequences that are not taken into account. Thousands of legal services have been taken offline without the rights holders who made the reports or the ISPs being worried. This position of strength is denounced by the company which asks Europe to improve this point for the good of legal IPTV services.

For Cloudflare, rights holders do not communicate enough and do as they please. If the fight against illegal streaming is understandable with a big shortfall, that law-compliant services suffer the consequences is questionable. Cloudflare relays their word by alerting the authorities.
