That Indian 500 is one of the largest racing events in the world. The 500-mile spectacle has been held since 1911 and has repeatedly impressed with spectacular races in recent years. The esports equivalent, the official Indy 500 in iRacing, was an equally popular event on the online simulation calendar. But recently it became known that the e-sports version of the event will no longer take place from next year. The license agreement between the IndyCar series and iRacing was not extended, as a simulation employee recently announced. The service not only loses the official event, but also the IndyCar series as a partner. Official racing events from iRacing will therefore no longer bear the name “IndyCar Series” or something similar in the future.
iRacing without official IndyCar series
In addition, official events with IndyCar cars will no longer take place on tracks that are part of the current official series race calendar. The three IndyCars in the game are retained, but players now have to adjust to restrictions. While a race with the cars can be streamed from the cockpit perspective, streams are in the style of TV broadcasts, such as those on Race Spot TV take place from which January 1st prohibited. According to iRacing, anyone who still shows a race like this can expect a ban.
The official IndyCar game
Many give the contract between the IndyCar series and Motorsport Games the blame for a failed continuation of the deal. The publisher acquired a number of licenses for future racing games a few years ago, but to date almost nothing has happened to them. Accordingly, the simracing community is skeptical about the company and its business practices, which have been described as scams from time to time.
