Israel destroys Hamas tunnel network in Gaza City

MIAMI.- Las Israel Defense Forces (IDF) claimed this Friday to have destroyed a network of tunnels operated by the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) that was located under the facilities of a luxury tourist complex in Gaza City.

Troops from the Israeli Army’s 14th Armored Battalion, along with members of the elite combat engineering unit, stormed the Blue Beach Resort, which was used by members of Hamas to launch attacks against Israeli troops in early November.

During their raid inside the hotel, the Israeli military discovered at least seven tunnels under the resort area that led to an underground network of passages in which the militants were theoretically hiding, according to the Army.

In addition, the Israeli military found Hamas assault rifles, explosive devices and unmanned aerial vehicles. The IDF announced months ago that it had killed around thirty Palestinian militiamen who were hiding at the Blue Beach Resort.

In early October, Hamas launched a series of terrorist attacks against Israel which left almost 1,200 dead and 240 hostages. The Israeli Army responded with a military campaign in the Gaza Strip that has already claimed the lives of more than 22,600 people.

The main objective of this military offensive is to destroy the structures of Hamas in the Gaza Strip, including the vast network of underground tunnels that the Palestinian militia has dug for years under the enclave.
