The two citizenships most requested by Argentines are Italian and Spanish, taking into account that approximately 65% of the population has some type of European descent. However, it is not always easy to gather the documentation or meet the requirements to process it.
In the case of Italian citizenship, those interested must pay the value of 300 euros, in pesos according to the price of that day, in case of being of legal age, since minors are included in the cost of the holder of the management.
In addition, it is important to note that one of these three basic requirements must be met to start the process:
-Citizenship by descent
-By marriage to an Italian citizen
-By naturalization

How to carry out the Italian citizenship process?
The first step for any Italian citizen residing in Argentina who wants to apply for it is to register in the Prenota Online system. Then, you must verify which consulate your address corresponds to. In general, it is the Consulate of the City of Buenos Aires, in Reconquista 572, although Italy has diplomatic representations in other locations.
The next step, in Prenota Online, consists of request a turn for the procedure, in the Passport Request option. The authorization is automatic and is carried out from Sunday to Thursday. If the document is for children under 18 years of age, the form must be completed with the data of the parents and children in Other people and/or relatives to add.
Once the form has been verified and completed, click OK. The program will show the available dates —those that appear in red are not. However, you do not have to go to the Consulate that day.
The selected date is a virtual shift, in which the Consulate will process the request. About three days later, the interested party will receive in his email box instructions to start the process. For example, if the chosen date was June 1, the mail should arrive on June 4. It is convenient to check the Spam folder and if it is not there either, send a claim email to [email protected]with the subject Domanda Passaporto, followed by first name, last name and the selected date.
The Italian passport allows you to travel throughout Europe without restrictions and makes it unnecessary to have a visa to enter the US.
In the mail from the Consulate, the citizen will find a code that they must enter on the website to, now, get the turn in person. On the day and at the time set, you will have to go to Reconquista 572, where your fingerprints will be taken and you will be able to pick up your passport.
The documentation to present is the following: latest Italian passport, accompanied by a photocopy of the first three pages (if it is a renewal); DNI with updated photo (original and photocopy); and two identical and up-to-date passport photos (35×40 mm), in color with a white background, taken from the front at medium distance with visible eyebrows, neutral expression and closed mouth.
