Although of course we always knew that Abed Nadir would be right when he broke the fourth wall in season three of Community and said that the TV series would get “six seasons and a movie”we were still very happy when we were able to report last year that the movie was finally confirmed, seven years after the series ended.

Most of the cast has already been confirmed to return to their roles, and creator Dan Harmon is writing the script as well as directing. And it seems pre-production is moving along at a rapid pace, as actor Joel McHale now confirms in Jimmy Kimmel Live (thanks Collider) that filming starts this summer. When Kimmel mentioned the upcoming film, McHale said:

“We are, we’re making the Community movie in June, so… Thanks for remembering.”

We’re really looking forward to reuniting with the quirky study group, the weird teachers, and of course the Dean of Greendale (played by Jim Rash) – as well as enjoying what is probably the best meta comedy ever delivered in a sitcom.
