CDMX.- Joseph Mersa, singer and grandson of Bob Marley, has died at the age of 31. The causes of his death are still unknown, but it points to a possible asthma attack.

Mersa’s representative confirmed the death to Rolling Stone on Tuesday without giving details of the death.

Mark J. Golding, a Jamaican politician, mourned the death of the “Burn It Down” interpreter.

“I have just learned of the tragic loss of Joseph “Jo Mersa” Marley. A talented young reggae artist, son of Stephen Marley and grandson of Bob Marley at just 31 years old. The loss of a child is a devastating blow that no parent should face, my condolences to Stephen and the entire family,” he wrote.

Mersa was born in Kingston, Jamaica. She made her debut with the song “My Girl” in 2010 where she collaborated with her cousin Daniel Bambaata Marley.

Despite being the grandson of Bob Marley, he never sought to hang on to his fame to create his music, which is why many people in his native country admired him.

The cause of death of Joseph Mersa Marley is expected to be released in a few weeks.
