President Gustavo Petro announced on Tuesday the appointment of Juan David Correa as the new Minister of Culture.
Correa thus becomes the third minister in charge of that portfolio in the first year of the Petro government.
The first person to hold that position was the artist Patricia Ariza, who was in charge until the end of February when she left with Alejandro Gaviria, then Minister of Education, and María Isabel Urrutia, then Minister of Sports.
Urrutia was succeeded by Jorge Zorro who took over as minister in charge and finally President Petro Gustavo Petro ended tenure in that ministry with the appointment of Correa.
For his part, Jorge Zorro, a musician trained at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow, Russia, will be in charge of leading the music pedagogy program in the country’s public schools.
