Julita Osendithe first sports journalist on Cuban television has left the island to settle in Miami, Florida.
In a recent interview published in the independent media CyberCuba The journalist explained that she had arrived in the United States as a result of a claim process filed by her son.
Regarding the reasons that prompted her to make the decision, Osendi said: “Now, really, oxygen has been escaping from Cuba and you can’t breathe.”
“The repetitive discourse of the authorities, always appealing to the same cause that has accompanied us for more than 60 years: the blockade, the escape of medicines, the lack of food because there is nothing to buy it with, not being able to go to a theater, something so necessary intellectually, because there is nowhere to go and a car from Cerro to Vedado costs three thousand pesos round trip… you really can’t,” he said.
Julita recounted that this chaos is not suffered only in Havana but throughout Cuba. A nation that she described as “collapsed, dirty, rude; with people who already don’t care about 8 or 88”.
