The first elections for governors of the long schedule between now and October left some considerations beyond the triumph of the ruling parties. In Jujuy, the resounding victory of Carlos Sadir gives continuity to the process initiated by the radical Gerardo Morales, who was on stage with the brand new winner.

This victory of the Jujuy Cambia Front is a consolidation of the Morales-Horacio Rodríguez Larreta axis, who was participating in the celebration together with two figures of radicalism such as Mario Negri from Cordoba and Martín Lousteau, pre-candidate for Buenos Aires head of government.

In Misiones, with an overwhelming 66%, Hugo Passalacqua won the elections with the Frente Renovador de la Concordia and will be the successor to Oscar Herrera Ahuad, relegating Juntos por el Cambio to second place and Kirchnerism being far behind with Fuerza de Todos .

And La Rioja marked the first participation of Javier Milei at the national level, which ended with a resounding defeat, something that for many meant a step backwards for the libertarians.

As expected, the pro-government Frente Cambia de Jujuy, which had Carlos Sarid as a candidate for governor with the support of Gerardo Morales to succeed him, won with 48.2% of the votes, above what was achieved in 2019. (43.76%), surpassing by a wide margin the Justicialista Front (21%) and the Left-Unity Front.

On the other side of the PRO, the pre-candidate Patricia Bullrich greeted Sadir and Morales via Twitter: “Congratulations @carlossadirjuy on your victory! Jujeños decided to continue with the change that @GerardoMorales began with courage, who did not hesitate to end the mafia of Milagro Sala. They are testimony of how Kirchnerism can be defeated. A big hug to the elected candidates of Together for Change”. His competitor in the PRO internship, Rodríguez Larreta, traveled to be part of the celebration.

In Misiones, although the victory achieved by the ruling party was devastating, the successor to Herrera Ahuad, Hugo Passalacqua, was in charge of giving it a more local tint and not nationalizing the election, beyond the fact that some ministers saluted him for the victory.

After taking 40 points from the second, Passalacqua’s message was a harsh criticism of the central power and everything that comes from “Buenos Aires.”

In his conference during the festivities, the newly elected governor clarified that there is no identification with national spaces: “We never wanted a photo with anyone.”

And La Rioja meant a hard setback for the libertarians and especially for Milei, who had been a strong player accompanying and promoting his candidate, Martín Menem. The La Libertad Avanza candidate came third with almost 15.65%, far behind Ricardo Quintela, from the Frente de Todos, who comfortably obtained re-election with 49.92% of the vote, against 32.55%. of his main opponent, the radical national deputy Felipe Alvarez, candidate of Together for Change.
