The two ICT service providers will become one of the leading companies in the DACH region with over 5,600 employees

As of today, two Leading Digital Transformation Partners are bundling their competencies in the ICT segment in the focus markets of Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

CANCOM SE, based in Munich, is one of the top IT system houses in Germany. CANCOM has been supporting companies, organizations and the public sector into the digital future since 1992. As a hybrid IT service provider with 4,000 employees at around 60 locations in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Belgium and Slovakia, the listed company achieved annual sales of 1.3 billion euros in 2022.

K-BUSINESSCOM (until 2022 Kapsch Businesscom AG) employs 1,650 people in the DACH region, Romania and the Czech Republic. Sales in 2022/23 were EUR 520 million.

The merger creates one of the leading IT companies in the DACH region and the customers of the companies benefit from a bundled competence for IT and digitization solutions, associated services and for the operation of IT systems.

The two companies have similar business priorities and at the same time are very complementary in many areas with their service and solution portfolios.

Among other things, CANCOM is positioned as a specialist for digital workplaces, cloud solutions and ICT managed services. K-Businesscom contributes its know-how as a digital business engineer for IT and business consulting and software development, as well as its expertise in intelligent networks and IT security with its own KBC Cyber Defense Center.

With a broad partner landscape of both companies, an international ecosystem is now emerging from leading global ICT players such as Microsoft, Apple, AWS, SAP, Cisco and HP, with whom both companies have long-standing partnerships paired with providers of industry solutions. The comprehensive portfolio of offers benefits existing customers and also opens up new market potential.

For a long time we have been looking for a way to bring the CANCOM Group into a noticeably stronger market position, especially in Austria and Switzerland, faster than would have been possible through organic growth. The customer structures, the service portfolio, the corporate cultures and the future visions represent a unique starting position for us to tackle the growth potential of the DACH market together. Therefore, we and the shareholders of K-Businesscom immediately seized the opportunity for cooperation“, said Rüdiger Rath, CEO of CANCOM SE.

dr. Franz Semmernegg, CEO K-Businesscom adds: “We see the greatest joint growth potential in our ICT service models (XaaS), especially in the area of cyber security. The general shortage of skilled workers coupled with constantly growing demands on IT departments and at the same time increasingly complex threat scenarios mean that companies and institutions are relying on the combined expertise and services of external ICT specialists.”

Both companies address focus industries such as healthcare, public and manufacturing industry and develop digital industry solutions with and for their customers.

With the integration of K-Businesscom into CANCOM, a leading hybrid ICT service provider with growth potential is being created in the DACH region. K-Businesscom is planning a further increase in market shares, particularly in Switzerland. The first course has already been set for this: last week, K-Businesscom took over 100% of the shares in the owner-managed Belsoft Infortix AG. The system integrator with a focus on data centers, networks and security, based in Zurich and with branches in Pfäffikon and Basel, has 35 employees and generates sales of around EUR 12 million.

“With the merger with CANCOM, we are setting a milestone in our DACH growth strategy”, explains Jochen Borenich, board member at K-Businesscom. “Together we have the opportunity as a leading provider in Europe’s strongest economic area to actively shape the digital transformation. Thanks to our technological expertise of over 5,600 employees in combination with our scalable platforms, we can provide our customers with comprehensive support from advice to secure operation and thus make a significant contribution to the digital competitiveness of the DACH region and Europe.”

The close interaction and common path of the two companies will also be reflected in the management and supervisory board: Rüdiger Rath and Thomas Stark will join the supervisory board of K-Businesscom AG and Jochen Borenich will become a member of the board (CSO) of the CANCOM SE group. Franz Semmernegg remains CEO of KBC and will continue to lead the company with the existing, successful management team.
