The Minister of Economy of the Republic of China (Taiwan), Mei-Hua Wang, paid an official visit to Floricultura del Paraguay on Sunday, underscoring the commitment of both nations to strengthening trade ties and cooperation in the agricultural sector.
During the visit, the Minister Mei Hua Wang was received by local authorities and representatives of Floriculture of Paraguay, who accompanied her on a tour of the facilities. This occasion she provided a platform for the exchange of ideas and knowledge on innovative practices in the cultivation and marketing of orchids.
After touring the floriculture greenhouse, the visiting authority indicated that orchids grown in Paraguay grew much better than in Taiwan. “With the same technology and the same form of cultivation in Taiwan, Paraguay has a much freer environment, feasible for its growth. This represents that our technical mission in Taiwan did not expand its steps. With the growth of orchids in Paraguay, I believe that in a short time you will be able to expand your growth. Not only in Paraguay, but also in Latin America”, he indicated.
During the tour, the ex-president was also present Horace Cartes, who has a very special bond with the Taiwanese people. “Talking about Taiwan excites me. I want you to know that Taiwan lives in my heart. It brings us not only great joy, but great honor for the beautiful relationship with my sister in the Republic of Taiwan. I once mentioned to our dearest President Tsai Ing-wen that if we put Taiwan and Paraguay together, we are not small, we are a true power. We are very proud of the relationship with you. And I ask you, please, count on Paraguay. Paraguay is more than a friend, I think we are almost family. Count on us, this is just the beginning of a beautiful and great relationship between both nations,” said the former president of Paraguay, Horacio Cartes.
For his part, Chiara Capdevila, owner of the floriculture, indicated on the occasion that he highly values the help of cooperation. He also maintained that they are seeking excellence with ISO quality certification. “We want to continue to give you satisfaction and make you proud of this project. As I was listening to his words, in our vision as a company, there is that dream of being able to export to sister countries”, he remarked.
