The American reality star has secured the iconic piece of jewelery worn by Princess Diana on a number of occasions, following an auction at Sotheby’s in London on Wednesday.

A number of international media, including The Guardian.

The piece, which bears the name “Attallah Cross”, dates from 1920 and was designed by luxury jewelery designer Garrard, according to the British newspaper.

– Bold

The price tag on the jewelery started at over two million Norwegian kroner. It is not known what Kardashian ended up paying, but according to The Guardian it sold for more than double the original asking price.

There were reportedly four bidders vying for Princess Diana’s jewel during the last five minutes of the auction.

In the end, it was bought by a representative of Kardashian, the auction house confirms.

Ahead of the sale, head of jewelery at Sotheby’s Kristian Spofforth said that jewelery owned or worn by the late Princess Diana very rarely comes on the market.

– Especially a piece like the Attallah cross, which is so colourful, bold and distinctive, Spofforth said according to The Guardian.

– Symbolic

The jewelery manager says that the jewelery in many ways represents a change in Princess Diana’s life.

– This piece of jewelery is symbolic of the princess’ growing self-confidence in her choice of jewelery at a special moment in her life.

This is not the first time Kim Kardashian has shown an interest in historical jewelry or clothing.

It caused quite a stir when Kardashian wore an iconic Marilyn Monroe dress at the prestigious Met Gala.

The reality star then revealed that she lost 7kg in just a few weeks to fit into the dress, which Monroe made world famous during an appearance for President Kennedy in 1962.
