Dance critic Wiebke Hüster, who was attacked with dog excrement by choreographer Marco Goecke, does not recognize his apology.

The dance critic Wiebke Hüster sharply criticized the statement by the suspended Hanoverian ballet director Marco Goecke on his dog excrement attack on her. “What kind of apology is that supposed to be? That’s a justification. We’re talking about a criminal offense here, that’s insult and bodily harm,” she said on 3sat. In his statement published on Tuesday, Goecke only reinforced his allegations against her. “That shocked me again,” said Hüster.

In a statement distributed by his management, Goecke had apologized to the journalist for his “disgraceful action in the affect”, at the same time he asked “for a certain understanding at least for the reasons why this happened”. Goecke accused the journalist of unobjective and reputation-damaging criticism. Hüster, on the other hand, announced on Wednesday that he would never look at a work by Goecke again.

Despite the faecal attack: Tanzverband keeps honoring Marco Goecke

Meanwhile, the Dachverband Tanz Deutschland hopes that Goecke’s pieces will remain on the repertoire despite the scandal. Despite the faecal attack, the association is also holding on to a special honor: just last October, Goecke was awarded the German Dance Prize in Essen for his artistic achievements.
