The heat arrives and the nightmare of all summers is repeated: the pipes are dry. There are numerous residents from different parts of the Region who open the taps in their homes every day hoping that the water will start to run, but that does not happen.
“I don’t know whether to say good morning,” a neighbor from Los Hornos began her story on Wednesday morning after having breakfast with the fact that once again they did not have the service. “So we are at 140 and 65 without a drop of water. There are older people and children, how do we get them to stop charging us for a service that they don’t provide us?”, she wondered indignantly. Her anger does not arise from that moment, but rather that she pointed out that “we have had low pressure for almost three months and we have been without water for a week.”
But the complaint is not limited to just that, but as if it were an irony in bad taste, just as there is no supply in his house, water flows incessantly on the sidewalk. It is that since April there is a loss for which “we have been claiming for two months without any response from Absa,” said the victim. As she explained, the problem is centered on the odd block where the main pipe is. “We started the claim again on October 30, because those who presented it in April gave it as fixed, which never happened,” she asserted.
She is not the only resident of Los Hornos who is in this situation, in 65 between 138 and 139 reported that “they never have water” it is a problem that drags on over time since they arrived in the neighborhood in April 2021 and always they had to live the same. It is more on one occasion “Absa personnel were working on 65 and 138, they dug a well from which water began to come out, everything was muddy but they did not solve anything. Later they repeated the same thing at the corner of 139, also without success,” said the neighbor.
A few blocks from there at 60 and 137 “for months there has been little pressure on the supply and on some days and times the situation worsens substantially.” In this sense, he also remarked that “with this pressure, the water does not reach the tank for hours and hours. Sometimes for a whole day.”
Meanwhile, at the corner of 147 and 60, the neighbors watched yesterday with concern as the water that is missing from their homes is wasted daily in a leak on that corner. “More than 20 days ago I made a claim to ABSA and nothing,” revealed one of the injured parties.
This problem is unknown to the neighborhood, it reaches every point in the city and in Hernández they experience something similar to what happens in Los Hornos, where a neighbor of 29 bis and 511 denounced that “we have not had water for days. When we call they tell us that everything is in good condition or they send us a truck with water that it is impossible to use because of how dirty it is”.
On the other hand, a building of 22 and 64 in which 30 families live “does not have water and Absa does nothing,” they said, and as happens in other points, they found out “that there is a huge loss of water in the neighborhood on the street 21 between 64 and 65”.
This is worrying in two directions, firstly because of the water that is wasted and then because of the power of damage it has in public spaces. In 65 almost 19 “the pavement is sunk with constant loss of water” and the neighbors fear that it will happen to the elderly since there is a “risk of collapse” they said. They assured that this has been the case for approximately 40 days in which they made a complaint to the municipality while “Absa never answers the phones,” they lashed out.

For their part, ABSA explained that during yesterday work was carried out in the northern zone, Los Hornos, San Carlos and Hernández, for which reason there were cuts in the supply, although the complaints from the neighbors date back days. On the other hand, they avoided commenting on the losses.
On the other hand, it was reported that today repairs will be made to the water network in Tolosa. The works that will be carried out by Absa are at the intersection of streets 521 and 11 and will involve removing the drilling located in the place, so that low pressure or lack of water may be registered in the area delimited by streets 520 to 526; and from 7 to 13 until the completion of the works.
