Landslide in Naucalpan dump buries four workers; one is still missing

TOLUCA, Edomex. (apro) Three of them have already been rescued, while the authorities continue to search for the affected fourth.

The collapse of approximately 7 tons of garbage occurred around 1:00 p.m. this Tuesday, from an explosion apparently produced by biogas, which caused the displacement of waste. Some netizens report that the force of the event ejected the vehicles that were being used for removal several meters.

In the place, located on Arenillas street, Puente de Piedra corner, Santiago Tepatlaxco neighborhood, elements of the National Defense Secretariat (Sedena), state Civil Protection, state and municipal police, and Naucalpan Fire Department, continue the Search for the person reported missing.

The Environmental Protection Agency of the State of Mexico (PROPAEM) reported that, as a result of this fact, it initiated an administrative procedure with a view to providing greater security to the emergency forces that participate in the search for the person who remains trapped, and in the possibility of partially closing the Integral Center of Residues of Naucalpan.

With this, it is intended to force the person responsible to implement technical measures to stabilize the land, control leachate and guarantee the correct management of biogas.

This dump in the La Loma community, indicated PROPAEM, has an authorization to operate issued by the Ministry of the Environment, with permission regarding environmental impact, and is attached to the Official Mexican Standard NOM-083-SEMARNAT-2003.
