A good week before the repeat elections in Berlin, a climate alliance announced protests. Under the motto “#BerlinWillKlima”, climate activists are inviting people to a rally on the Hatun-Sürücü Bridge in Neukölln on Friday.

Climate activist Luisa Neubauer announced on Thursday in Berlin that the aim was to show that the age when you could still sell a new motorway as a measure that made sense in terms of transport policy was finally over.

Actions against the expansion of motorways are planned nationwide. The protests in Berlin were specifically directed against the further construction of the A100 city motorway. The rally takes place within sight of the work on the further construction of the motorway.

Two days before the repeat elections to the House of Representatives, Fridays for Future is calling for a “major strike” on February 10 – the organizers are expecting numerous participants in front of the Red City Hall in Berlin. (dpa)
