According to a US newspaper report, the power struggle within the Russian power apparatus over the war of aggression against Ukraine could be more far-reaching than previously assumed. This is indicated by new secret documents that have now been published on the Internet in addition to the leaked information that became known days ago, the New York Times wrote this morning (local time).

According to the newspaper, the domestic secret service FSB accuses the military of covering up the extent of the casualties on the Russian side. The military continues to shy away from relaying bad news up the chain of command, the document said. The FSB, in turn, is questioning the figures from the Ministry of Defense in discussions with the Russian government.

Details on the Prigozhin-Shoigu dispute

The new documents also revealed details of a public dispute between the head of the Wagner mercenaries, Yevgeny Prigozhin, and Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu over ammunition allegedly withheld by the military for the Wagner troops.

Accordingly, President Vladimir Putin is said to have personally tried to settle the dispute between the two. The meeting is said to have taken place on February 22, according to one of the documents.
