According to the rumor mill, the upcoming technology fair, Mobile World Congress 2023 in Barcelona, will be the stage for a number of interesting new launches from AVM. From the information that the Website box matrix are available, it emerges that AVM will introduce a completely new product line with the new FritzSmart gateway with ZigBee.
FritzSmart is completely new
So far there are no “FritzSmart” devices. AVM offers the FritzBox, FritzWLAN, FritzRepeater, FritzDECT, FritzFon and FritzPowerline series. The FritzSmart gateway leaked by Boxmatrix, on the other hand, is a connector for smart home devices that is said to be based on the Zigbee standard. All information is still unconfirmed. Boxmatrix continues: “This is a template to collect information about a future model. Little to nothing is known about it yet. It may never become real and a Vapor model. The FritzSmart gateway is the long-awaited bridge of AVM Smart Home to ZigBee It is based on a low-power variant of the Maple SoC and offers 2×2 2.4GHz Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac), a GBit LAN port and a smart-enabled DECT base with the DECT chip of the 4060 Also, it has an internal ZigBee interface with a USB connector, which appears to be based on the Nordic Semiconductor nRF5 802.15.4 chipset, and no external USB host connector.”
According to Boxmatrix, there is a firmware in-house beta for the new product with version number 7.51. The product ID should be “Fritz_Box_HW265”. Considering that this is perhaps just one of a series of devices that is not planned for release, there is a surprising amount of detailed information.
