The company The Luthiers founded in 1967 issued a statement to announce that after 55 years it is saying goodbye to the stage. After in 2020 he suffered the loss of Mark Mundstock, one of its founders, the group will make its last season with its show “Màs Tropiezos de Mastropiero”.

Having reached their goals after more than half a century of tours and presentations, Les Luthiers will say goodbye after the decision of its two “historic” members (Carlos López Puccio and Jorge Maronna) to say goodbye to their audience.

This is how López Puccio expresses it: “This year I will be 77 years old, and Jorge will be 75. We feel very vital, and artistically we believe we are at our best moment; but as we approach 80 our muscles and joints anticipate that they will soon begin to present impediments to us ”, they say from the statement sent to the media.

“It will not be easy to conclude this wonderful work that we have enjoyed since we were very young, nor to say goodbye to the public that follows and supports us, but Mastropiero deserves to rest after so many years of adventures”, adds Maronna.

Les Luthiers will begin their Farewell Tour with the premiere, in Buenos Aires, of MÁS TROPIEZOS DE MASTROPIERO, a corollary of the company’s long history and, at the same time, praise of the famous composer’s career. It constitutes, due to the design of the story and the novel contribution of the virtues of the 2019 list, a kind of synthesis between tradition and modernity.

The premiere will take place at the Opera Theater next Thursday, January 12, and it will be presented there every weekend during the summer season.. The tour will continue, throughout this year, through several countries -among others, Mexico, Colombia, Costa Rica, Chile, Uruguay and Spain- as well as through numerous cities in Argentina.
