Read everything about Philipp Boy’s sports and TV career.

Characteristics

Sport career of Philipp Boy

Philipp Boy was born in Schwedt/Oder. He grew up in the Uckermark and discovered gymnastics at the age of five: his sports career began at TSV Blau Weiß 65 Schwedt.

His greatest sporting achievements:

  • In 2007, the talented gymnast won the bronze medal in the team final at the World Gymnastics Championships in Stuttgart.
  • In 2008 he finished fourth at the Olympic Games in Beijing.
  • 2009: Gold medal on floor, second place on horseback, third place in the all-around final at the German Championships.
  • 2010: Gold at the European Championships in England with the German team.
  • 2010, World Championships in Rotterdam: bronze medal with his teammates, silver in the all-around individual. On top of that there was the “Longines Prize for Elegance 2010” for the most elegant gymnast of the world championships.
  • 2011, European Championships in Berlin: gold in the all-around, silver on the horizontal bar.
  • 2011, World Championships in Tokyo: Second place in the all-around.

But then the shock came in Tokyo: The all-around runner-up world champion, then 24 years old, fell off the horizontal bar. How could that happen? The athlete explains: “I didn’t catch the pole with my right hand after an element. My mistake was to leave the hall before my performance and go to the horizontal bar several times in the next hall. So the concentration went away.”

The injuries were noticeable in his results. Philipp Boy retired from gymnastics in 2012.

TV career of Philipp Boy

His TV career began in 2016: on “Dance Dance Dance” (RTL) he won the final against the reality darling Menderes Bagci.

In 2018, Philipp Boy took second place in the show “Ewige Helden”, in which former professional athletes compete against each other. Only Sascha Klein was able to prevail against the former gymnast.

In the same year, Philipp Boy showed his sporting prowess in “Team Ninja Warrior Promi Special”: his team, consisting of sports heroes Jessica Paszka, Tanja Szewczenko and Björn Otto, took the win. At the RTL donation marathon, Philipp took second place two years in a row.

In 2022, the former gymnast won the “RTL high diving”.

And in 2023 Phillipp Boy wants to put his skills to the test on “Let’s Dance”.
