LG Display has introduced a new generation of OLED panels that will be used by some manufacturers this year and should primarily score in gaming. At the presentation at CES 2023, 45 inches are shown in ultra-wide and 27 inches.

In the high-end gaming market you have to offer a lot

By 2022, OLED and gaming had come much closer together. With its panels, LG Display not only provides the basis for products from LG Electronics, but also supplies other manufacturers. Now, at CES 2023, the company has unveiled what it has to offer this year in terms of OLED displays suitable for gaming. As usual, the trade fair only gives a glimpse of what will be found later in the year in products from a wide variety of monitor suppliers.

The first important factor where you want to have made significant progress with the new panels: the response time. LG specifies this as 0.03 ms. As the company announces, it can be used to provide “the first OLED displays for monitors with a refresh rate of 240 Hz per second”.

The second innovation, which should primarily come into play when used as a gaming display: According to LG, it integrates a special polarization filter “that was specially developed for games”. Numbers have not yet been provided and so far only vaguely spoken of “perfect black” and “precise color representation”. According to LG, the panels also emit “the lowest blue light in the industry”, but compare them to LCDs here.

Coming soon to LG, Asus, Corsair and more

LG will start mass production with 27-inch and 45-inch panels later this month. As the company explains, Asus and Corsair are among the first providers to use the new OLED displays in their premium monitors.
