Liensberger demands steps from the ÖSV

After missing the final qualification at the World Cup giant slalom in Kranjska Gora and the overall poor technical performance this season, Katharina Liensberger now also sees the Austrian Ski Association as having an obligation. “Now it’s important to take the right steps,” said the woman from Vorarlberg. Racing manager Thomas Trinker wanted to get “a clear picture” in discussions, he does not rule out a correction in the trainer area.

When asked that there was currently helplessness in the team and whether there was an explanation for this, Liensberger had an answer ready. “Definitely. You knew in the spring that everything had changed completely, the entire structure is new. There’s no one here from last year, it’s difficult to take experiences and values from last season.”
Trinker is the new women’s boss, Karlheinz Pichler is the coach of World Cup 3, Georg Harzl from the technical team and Livio Magoni are primarily responsible for Liensberger. The collaboration between Liensberger and Magoni was far from having the desired success, the silver medalist in the Olympic slalom was only twice in the top ten this winter, finishing fifth in the Killington giant slalom and eighth in the Levi slalom.

The fact that Liensberger, Katharina Truppe and Ramona Siebenhofer failed to qualify for the second round of the top 30 in Slovenia on Sunday was described by Trinker as a disappointment for the runners and the support staff. “Of course you need analysis, you need support and then we have to make sure that we steer it in the right direction again.”
When asked that Liensberger was expecting steps, the racing director said. “I also talked to her about it. We’re definitely not going to make any quick fixes now. We’ll think about something and work on solutions.”
Correction possible during the season
Does the project between Magoni and Liensberger still make sense, does it look like the basis of trust is no longer there? “There was very little time between rounds to talk about it, we’ll do that this evening and tomorrow morning, then maybe you’ll get a clear picture of what’s going on with the two.” So you would be willing to correct something during the season? “If it’s necessary and you can find options, why not.”
Communication has always taken place, but assures drinkers. “Communication is ongoing, I don’t see any need for action in that sense, the communication is there. You definitely have to get together, but that’s a completely normal process. You get together when things are going well. I trust my coaches and I have faith in my athletes.”
