Dortmund.
A minibus avoided a car that had an accident in Dortmund on Wednesday. But after that, the driver needed a break.

That must have been a big shock in the morning: around seven o’clock on Wednesday, a 19-year-old driver left the road on Haberlandstrasse in Dortmund-Nette. The car drove into several parked cars and rolled over, as reported by the Dortmund fire brigade. The driver of the accident car, who lives in Dortmund, was able to free himself. He was taken to hospital despite minor injuries.

During the accident, a minibus with a total of nine occupants came towards the accident car. The minibus was on the way to the workplace, the workshops of the Arbeiterwohlfahrt (Awo). The fire brigade reports that the bus driver was “cautious and foresighted” and that it was thanks to him that the bus did not collide with the car that was skidding in the opposite direction.

Dortmund: After the accident, a replacement driver had to come

But the shock must have gotten so bad for the bus driver that he didn’t get behind the wheel again. The emergency services took care of him. The bus company from Sauerland organized a replacement driver.

The fire brigade took care of the people in the minibus until the replacement driver arrived. There were drinks at the nearby fire and rescue station 9 in Mengede, and trained staff looked after the group, according to the fire department. At around 8:30 a.m. we finally went on to the Awo workshops.

So far, the police can only give an initial assessment of why the car overturned and drove into the other cars: It may have been due to another fogged windshield.
