The Oral Criminal Court No. 1 of Dolores issued a harsh ruling in the trial for the murder of Fernandez Baez Sosa, which occurred on January 18, 2020 in Villa Gessel. The judges understood that Máximo Thomsen, Enzo Comelli, Matías Benicelli, Luciano and Ciro Pertossi were co-authors of the murderfor which they handed down a life sentence.
The other three defendants: Ayrton Viollaz, Blas Cinalli and Lucas Pertossi were sentenced to 15 years in prison for being secondary participants in the same act. In addition, Juan Pedro Guarino and TC, known as “rugby player number 11”, a minor at the time of the crime of Fernando Baez Sosathey will have to face a process for false testimony.
Judges María Claudia Castro, Christian Rabaia and Emiliano Lázzari, members of the court, heard 87 witnesses in thirteen hearings to reach the verdict after three years and 17 days of the event that ended the life of Fernando Baez Sosa. The reading was interrupted for a few minutes when Thomsen suffered a decompensation and was treated by a doctor, while the mother asked that they let her “be with him”while lashing out at the journalists “who spent three years torturing him,” he said.
The lawyer for the family of the young man murdered in Villa Gessel, Fernando Burlando, said he felt satisfied with the sentence to life imprisonment for five of the defendants and he anticipated that “they will read the arguments of the ruling in depth”, because he understands that the court “had mercy on three of the murderers.”
The parents of the victim They agreed with the court’s verdict and sentence, although they maintain their position of “do not give up”, because they insist on the sentence of life imprisonment “for all” and they assured when leaving the courts, that “they will go for everything”.
