The Hunger Games actor is about to play Geralt de Riv.
Netflix began airing the third season of The Witcherwhich will be the last of Henry Cavill in the lead role of the Witcher Geralt of Rivia. Once the eight episodes are broadcast this summer, it’s Liam Hemsworth (Gale in the Hunger Games saga) who will succeed him in the role. And like its predecessor, it immerses itself fully in the universe imagined by Andrzej Sapkowski before joining the adventure.
As we know, Henry Cavill invested a lot in the production of this series of Lauren Schmidt Hissrich for Netflix. When he heard it was in production, he did everything to get an audition, then insisted on sticking as close to the vibe of the games and novels as possible. Himself a big fan of this universe, he would also have been so involved that it would have created tensions with the rest of the creative team, as he constantly sought to respect the original work.

Interviewed by Games Radar about season 3, Joey Bateywho plays the bard Dandelion in The Witcherrevealed that Liam Hemsworth is well on his way to becoming as sharp as his predecessor on the subject of Witchers: “He is devouring the books”, reveals the actor, who explains having exchanged with him by email several times before really giving him the reply. He also details having heard of a diet “crazy” to build his body and become as big as Cavill on screen.
“I am in contact with Liamexplains Batey. We exchange messages, we share our favorite quotes from books, things like that. I don’t think any of us are in a position to advise him on how he should play Geralt, because he’s got himself into it. He trains, he follows a crazy diet and he devours books.”
Anya Chalotra, the interpreter of Yennefer, adds that she also sent a congratulatory email to Liam Hemsworth when he was announced to the casting, and that they have been exchanging messages since. “I can’t wait to meet him”she says about the actor who will be her new playmate.
As soon as Henry Cavill revealed that Liam would be his successor in the Geralt costume, the person concerned immediately claimed that he was a fan of the games and was proud to follow in his footsteps. Season 4 has not yet started filming, we should not really discover it in action until 24, or even 2025 on Netflix.
