Lima Film Festival presents the programming for its twenty-eighth edition

LIMA.- A total of 123 films and documentaries will be screened at the 28th Lima Film Festivalfrom August 8 to 17, which will also pay tribute to French filmmaker Arnaud Desplechin.

“We want the festival to be a platform for the celebration and encounter of world, Latin American and Peruvian cinema,” said Vanessa Vizcarra, director of the event organized by the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru (PUCP), at a press conference.

Organizers announced that French director Arnaud Desplechin will be honored at the opening ceremony.

Desplechin, 63, remembered for films such as Kings and queen o A Christmas tale, will arrive in Lima with a sample of his filmography that includes his most recent work “Spectateurs!”, which premiered at the last Cannes Film Festival.

The movie Frida, by Peruvian Carla Gutiérrez, will open the festival at the National Theater in Lima.

Programming

The festival will present 16 films for the official competition in fiction and 10 in documentaries, in addition to the categories called ‘Acclaimed’, with nine works of cinema by authors most anticipated worldwide, direct from festivals such as Cannes, Berlin and Sudan, and Galas, with 12 feature films, said the PUCP.

The prize for the fiction and documentary competition category will be $4,000.

In the fiction category are, among others, Simon of the Mountain, by Federico Luis (Argentina); Baby by Marcelo Caetano (Brazil); History and geographyby Bernardo Quesney (Chile), The other sonby Juan Quebrada (Colombia), Wild womanby Alan Gonzalez.
