Lineage has just deployed its new operating system. Based on Android 13, LineageOS 20 is compatible with several older smartphones. A good way to extend their lifespan, to continue to receive updates while enjoying the benefits of Android 13.
On an Android smartphone, you don’t have to confine yourself to the overlay installed by default on your device. The ecosystem is open both for applications from third-party platforms and for alternative operating systems. Lineage has just deployed its new version based on Android 13: LineageOS 20.
Opting for a third-party system like LineageOS offers several advantages. In addition to benefiting from an interface other than that installed by default, users can obtain updates on their smartphone abandoned by the manufacturer. Concretely, devices that are outdated in the eyes of the manufacturer will be able to benefit from an unofficial version of Android 13, which is not negligible.

LineageOS 20: which smartphones are compatible?
Currently, Pixel smartphones powered by the Tensor chip are not supported. Here is the complete list of models compatible with LineageOS 20. Many aging OnePlus and Motorola smartphones are included.

Increased security and privacy, cosmetic details adapted from Android 13, updated security patches, improvements in root access management… LineageOS 20 includes its share of well-regarded features and improvements. Also note a leap forward on the camera side thanks to the inclusion of the CameraX API. This offers even finer options like video frame rate control and comprehensive EIS and OIS settings.
