Emmanuel Macron has just arrived in Dunkirk
The president started wandering around an aluminum factory in Dunkirk.
The Head of State will then visit the company’s foundry.
This visit takes place in the company of the Minister of the Interior Gérald Darmanin and the Minister in charge of Energy Transition Agnès Pannier-Runacher, both elected from Hauts-de-France.
The Secretary of State for Industry, Roland Lescure, Olivier Becht in charge of Foreign Trade and the tenant of Bercy, Bruno Le Maire, are also present.

“Coming to announce the establishment of a gigafactory of electric batteries, very good, it’s employment. We agree. That said, that does not hide the difficulties we are facing in the industry” , said Philippe Verbeke, industry representative UL CGT Dunkerque, shortly before the arrival of Emmanuel Macron.
“At the very moment when Emmanuel Macron comes to announce the gigafactory of batteries”, there is “the announcement of the withdrawal of the Chinese shareholder” from the Valdunes company, continued the trade unionist. “These are unbearable elements when you want to have a general consistency on the industry”.

In a territory hard hit by deindustrialization and unemployment, the installation of ProLogium, a Taiwanese foreign battery factory, is a real godsend.
