Maduro threatens to imprison Edmundo Gonzalez and Maria Corina Machado

CARACAS. – During a long speech, the dictator Nicolás Maduro He insisted on the narrative that he won the July 28 presidential election, despite evidence of fraud pointed out by the democratic opposition.

On the afternoon of Wednesday, July 31, he blamed the “comanditos”” opponents who defended the votes of Edmundo Gonzalez Urrutia, President-elect of Venezuela according to data provided by the opposition, of the protests that have been taking place throughout the country since Monday 29th.

“As a citizen, for me, these people have to be behind bars. Now if you ask me as head of state what should happen to Edmundo González Urrutia and María Corina Machado, I would say that there should be fair justice and they should appear before the Prosecutor’s Office and face up to it. And not continue hiding,” said Maduro.

According to the head of the regime, his opponents fabricated the reports to destabilize the country. “I hope that all the candidates and parties respond to the requests and the investigation that the Electoral Chamber of the Supreme Court of Justice can carry out. There will be peace and justice in Venezuela, and the institutions will function again,” he said.

They will never, ever achieve political power. I assure you, and I know what I’m saying, these criminals will never catch up with him,” he added.

Maduro also called González Urrutia a “coward” and Machado a “criminal far-right fascist.”

Dialogue with the USA

On the other hand, Nicolás Maduro expressed that he is willing to negotiate again with the US government as long as they stop “destabilizing Venezuela.”

“If they respect Venezuela, there will be new dialogues. I promise not to lose patience. But Venezuela will not be mistreated. The people will be treated with respect (…) Every false step that the US takes will be worse for them,” said the dictator.

He also stated that “Joe Biden knows that I am a man of my word.”
