Following the collapse of buildings on rue de Tivoli, in Marseille (Bouches-du-Rhône), nearly half of the evacuated residents will be able to find their homes.

It is the day of return for nearly half of the evacuees from the district, eighteen days after the collapse of the rue de Tivoli, which caused the death of eight people in Marseille (Bouches-du-Rhône). 138 inhabitants will be able to return to their accommodation, Friday April 28 in the morning, at 9 am. This represents 72 households. After the tragedy, the city of Marseille had established a large security perimeter, evacuated 43 buildings as a precaution. This represents 300 people who had to find accommodation, either with relatives or in a hotel, paid for by the municipality.

Awaiting further study results

Nearly three weeks later, the results of the first studies launched made it possible to remove 19 buildings from this perimeter, in particular rue Jaubert. These buildings do not represent a danger and can therefore be occupied again. For the other half of the buildings evacuated, we will have to wait for the results of more in-depth studies before seeing the inhabitants return, explains the journalist from France Télévisions, Théo Souman, live from Marseille.
